Elephant Walk – Kariba

4 beds
3 bathrooms

Located within a national parks area on the Charara peninsula is our little slice of heaven. You can view hippos playing in the lake from our sparkling edge swimming pool and watch the epic Kariba sunsets from the top deck. The self-catering lodge is fully air conditioned and provides the comforts of home in a serene setting.

Our cook can prepare your meals and clean up after you to ensure absolute relaxation. There is no better way to experience Kariba than at Lodge 13 Wild Heritage.

The lodge has 4 bedrooms, 2 upstairs which lead onto the top deck and 2 on the ground floor. The main bedroom located upstairs has a king size bed and the other bedroom next to it has a king size bed as well. One of the downstairs bedrooms has a king size bed and a day bed while the other has 2 three quarter beds.

The floor plan downstairs is open plan with the lounge leading into the dining which in turn leads into the fully equipped kitchen. We have 3 deep freezers and an upright fridge as well as a bar fridge to keep all your food and drinks extra cold in the Kariba heat. We also have an ice maker for your drinks.

If there is a power cut, we do have a 2-plate gas stove, a gas braai and a generator available. The generator may be used for a limited time and use outside the limited time will be granted at a fee of USD 2 per hour.

Outside we have outdoor dining as well as outdoor seating overlooking the pool as well as the lake. There is also an outdoor bar.

As a result of being in the national parks area wild animals such as zebra, hippo, crocodiles, water buck, elephant and occasionally buffalo can be seen from the comfort of the lodge. Lions have also been known to make the odd appearance on the flood plains. Guests are reminded to exercise caution and not to walk around the complex at night.

The lodge has a home theatre system as well as an open view decoder for entertainment. However, we ask guests to keep noise levels to an absolute minimum in order to respect our neighbours and more importantly wild animals. Guests may be asked to leave the premises if they do not adhere to the noise restrictions.

We have a few board games and a well-stocked library.

We also have a communal area within the Wild Heritage complex where guests will find a bigger swimming pool as well as a braai area.

The lodge sleeps an absolute maximum of 8 people. Guests are reminded to bring all their food and drinks as well as toiletries of a personal nature and mosquito repellent. While our caretaker is available to attend to client needs, we ask clients not to keep them up too late. Guests are encouraged to arrive at the lodge before 6pm
