Elephant Walk – Kariba

4 beds
3 bathrooms

Nestled within a national park on the Charara Peninsula, our little slice of heaven offers an unparalleled escape. From the sparkling edge of our infinity pool, you can watch hippos playing in the lake, and from the top deck, take in the breathtaking Kariba sunsets. This fully air-conditioned, self-catering lodge provides all the comforts of home in a peaceful, natural setting.

For ultimate relaxation, our cook is available to prepare your meals and handle the cleaning, allowing you to fully unwind. There’s no better way to experience the beauty of Kariba than at Lodge 13, Wild Heritage.

The lodge features four bedrooms: two upstairs, each opening onto the top deck, and two on the ground floor. The master bedroom upstairs has a king-size bed, as does the adjacent bedroom. On the ground floor, one bedroom also boasts a king-size bed and a day bed, while the other is furnished with two three-quarter beds.

The open-plan ground floor seamlessly connects the lounge, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. With three deep freezers, an upright fridge, a bar fridge, and an ice maker, your food and drinks will stay perfectly chilled, even in Kariba’s heat.

In the event of a power cut, the lodge is equipped with a two-plate gas stove, a gas braai, and a generator. The generator may be used for a limited time, and additional usage is available for a fee of USD 2 per hour.

The outdoor area is perfect for dining and relaxing, with seating that overlooks both the pool and the lake. There is also an outdoor bar, ideal for enjoying a drink while soaking in the view.

Being situated in a national park, wildlife such as zebras, hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, elephants, and occasionally buffalo can be spotted from the lodge. Lions have also been known to make rare appearances on the floodplains. For safety, guests are reminded to exercise caution and to avoid walking around the complex after dark.

For entertainment, the lodge features a home theatre system and an OpenView decoder. However, we ask that guests keep noise levels to a minimum out of respect for our neighbours and the surrounding wildlife. Failure to adhere to the noise policy may result in guests being asked to vacate the premises.

Additionally, we offer a selection of board games and a well-stocked library for those looking for quieter activities.

Guests can also enjoy the communal area within the Wild Heritage complex, which includes a larger swimming pool and a braai area.

The lodge accommodates a maximum of eight people. Guests are reminded to bring their food, drinks, personal toiletries, and mosquito repellent. While our caretaker is available to assist with any needs, we kindly ask that guests refrain from keeping them up too late. We also recommend that guests arrive at the lodge before 6 pm.
