Rocky Glen is a cozy cottage nestled in the Nyanga Mountains. Just 7kms away from Troutbeck is this hidden gem. Guests can visit the stream that passes through the cottage or hike to the small but stunning waterfall not too far away. If tranquillity and great quality time with friends and family is what you are after, then this is the ideal place for you.
Rocky Glen comes with a cook/housekeeper who can prepare your meals and clean up after you so you can enjoy ultimate relaxation. The kitchen is fully equipped.
The cottage offers all the comforts of home in a tranquil setting. Our roaring fire will keep you warm while our electric blankets will take the dread of jumping into cold blankets away. We have books and games to play such as darts and cards among others.
The cottage has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The first bedroom has a double bed and a separate bathroom and toilet directly outside. The second bedroom has twin beds and also has a separate bathroom and toilet directly outside. The third bedroom is an upstairs loft set up with 2 Indian day beds so it could be a lounge by day and a bedroom at night. There is a combined shower and toilet directly off that room. The last bedroom is detached from the main house but is literally 5 steps away. It has a queen-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom.
In addition to the stream and waterfall close to the property guests can hike and play volleyball on site. On those rainy days guests can play board games, cards, or darts. We have a home theatre system as well as an open view decoder.
In the event of a power cut we have a 4-plate gas stove with oven, and a charcoal braai (please bring your own charcoal). We have solar to power lights, fridges and entertainment. An additional backup generator is available for use for a limited time only. Extended generator use will come at an extra cost of USD2 per hour. Rechargeable LED lamps are also available (one can’t be too careful…) Our water supply is not dependent on electricity, and we have 2 wood fired boilers so you will be guaranteed a hot shower.
The last 3kms of road to the cottage have patches of bad road. In the rainy season clients will need a vehicle with four-wheel drive. Outside the rainy season guests will need a vehicle with high clearance. The cell phone reception at the cottage is spotty at best but our caretakers will be happy to show guests where to get decent reception within the property. Please note there is no Wi-Fi.
Guests will need to bring all their food and drinks as well as toiletries of a personal nature. Guests are encouraged to arrive before 6pm. Please note that the cottage accommodates an absolute maximum of 8 people. This includes children over 2 years
